Designing & Delivering events for first nations peoples

Events, ceremony and the sharing of stories have been an important part of First Nations peoples since the dawn of time.  With the growing number of First Nations businesses and Aboriginal Corporations in Australia, and globally, we felt NOW was the time for First Nations focused events to be designed by First Nations peoples.

 

Through our events we want to change the narrative to share ideas for building communities, economic development, employment, and community led innovation.  

 

who are we

First Nations Events was Founded by Jenni Walke, a Bundjalung woman from the Northern Rivers of NSW. 

Inspired by the incredible women I met at a conference on Gimuy-walubarra yidi country (Cairns), this company was born to provide a vehicle for First Nations peoples to share their voice, ideas, and stories.  A place to have agency over the impact we create. 

We are a 100% Indigenous-led and owned social enterprise. 

To be the change we want to see in the world, we must begin by getting involved, and being part of the solution. 
Our purpose is to create events that shift the narrative of our peoples across the globe.  

 

OUR FIRST EVENT WILL BE HELD IN APRIL 2023

My aim is for First Nations Events to be owned, managed and controlled by Indigenous women. Not just from Australia, but across the Globe. Together we CAN change the world in which we live and create a space where First Nations people thrive and reconciliation exists, not as an aspiration, but as a story from the past.

We are holding our first event in APRIL 2023.  

We are currently seeking applications for First Nations women to join the Advisory Committee, which will oversee the design of each event, the choice of speakers, and its location, Speakers for the inaugural conference, and Corporate Sponsors interested in supporting the creation of a wholly owned, global, Indigenous business.

we value our speakers

Too often conference organisers seek to profit of the knowledge and wisdom of our people. 

Front and centre of our business model is that ALL SPEAKERS GET PAID
In addition, First Nations Events will cover the cost of flights and acommodation 

we exist to create impact

In recognition of the work our speakers are doing, the nations they are representing, and the impact they are making, First Nations Events will provide each Speaker with a GRANT* to support a community project or organisation of their choice

We believe in giving back

The aim of the events is to create connections, build networks, and help First Nations peoples globally, thrive. 
We recognise though, that sometimes, people need support to get started.  

First Nations Events will sponsor a minimum of 10 First Nations people to attend our events. 
As we grow, our hope is the number of women, men, and youths we can support to attend our events will also grow.
